selling your place? painting your cabinets may help make the sale
Just call it the power of paint. The home purchase platform Knock released a new study identifying what home buyers want, and paint plays a major part. Homeowners who make improvements prior to listing their homes sell 30 percent faster than those who don't make improvements, the data revealed.
The top five improvements among buyers are in the kitchen and bath, with kitchen cabinet repainting making for a sale that's 10 days faster. The second most impactful improvement is the bathroom shower remodel, which helps sell nine days faster, followed by kitchen countertop upgrades, a backsplash refresh, and a bathroom vanity upgrade. Interior and exterior paint help sell homes seven and six days faster, respectively, found the analysis.
Additionally, the more improvements that are made, the faster the sale is to be made. Shares Knock, "The analysis also found homeowners who had two or more improvements completed on their home sold nearly 40 percent faster (in an average of six days) than those who only made one improvement. These additional improvements can be as minor as a fresh coat of paint, updating fixtures like lights, faucets, and knobs, as well as simply power washing the exterior of your home."
