a brand new color is introduced as pantone's hue of the year
The latest Color of the Year has been named—and, if you're following along with us, you might be surprised that it isn't green. Pantone this week shared that Veri Peri, a newly unveiled periwinkle blue with red undertones, is its Color of the Year for 2022. The brand's Color Institute, which focuses on global trends, color psychology, and color forecasting, has named colors of the year for the last 23 years, following extensive research of trends worldwide.
For home furnishings, the institute shared, the new shade "is suited to an array of different materials, textures, and finishes, providing a pop of color, whether introduced through a painted wall, accent furniture or home decor, or acting as an intriguing and eye-catching accent in a pattern."
"As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family," Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute, said. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression."
