farrow & ball's 5 trending colors for 2022 are stunning

A green wall complimenting the blue foreground/Photography: Farrow & Ball/Breakfast Room Green is one of Farrow & Ball's trending colors for 2022, paired here with Stone Blue, which appears on the console.

The five-color palette trending for next year is "simple and familiar," says Farrow & Ball's color curator, who just named the key paint combinations that the British brand expects to trend next year. Joa Studholme, who consults on design projects and curates Farrow & Ball's color range, says the five-color palette embodies a distinctly human element. "There is something inherently human in the colors that we are attracted to for 2022 as well as in the way we use them."

A bedroom with pale green walls and red and white striped ceiling/Photography: Farrow & Ball/Incarnadine ceiling stripes, Breakfast Room Green walls, School House White headboards illustrate how three of the brand's colors play well together.

So, which hues rule? Babouche, a bright, golden yellow; School House White, a soft white; Breakfast Room Green, a cheerful sage; Stone Blue, a dusty, saturated blue; and Incarnadine, a deep crimson, all make this coming year's list.

They also have something in common: Joa predicts hues that hearken back to a simpler time, embodying "the modest character of the world of folk and craft," will rise in popularity.

A white room with blue door/Photography: Farrow & Ball/Stone Blue on the doors and Incardadine below the chair rail pair well with School House White—a hue that the brand calls pared back, timeless and familiar.

The five choices, she says "extol the virtues of a simple life and can be used in any combination and in any room. They are an eclectic mix of the pure and the humble that evokes the warmth and harmony of a more innocent age while celebrating life today. Function goes hand in hand with ornament, using colors and finishes in unusual ways to celebrate the principles of utility, kindness and honesty."

Happily, the paint brand predicts that, next year, consumers will "relish brighter colors," indicative of "a return to normality."
